IQNA – An Iranian cleric highlighted five characteristics of resistance fighters and martyrs in the path of Allah that are mentioned in the Holy Quran.

Iranian cleric Hojat-ol-Islam Nasser Rafiei

In a speech, Hojat-ol-Islam Nasser Rafiei pointed out the correspondence of a verse from Surah Al-Imran of the Holy Quran with the character of Martyr Sayed Hashem Safieddine and other martyrs of the resistance front.

“Many godly people fought to help the Prophets in the cause of God. They did not lose courage, show weakness, or give in when facing hardships in their fight for the cause of God. God loves those who have patience,” according to Verse 146 of the Surah.

Hojat-ol-Islam Rafiei said this verse was revealed in the context of the Battle of Uhud, and God Almighty has mentioned in it five characteristics for the fighters in the way of Allah.

These characteristics are completely consistent with the conduct of martyrs of the resistance, especially the leader of the resistance, Martyr Safieddine.

He considered the first characteristic to be godly, meaning God-centered. “Although love for the homeland is important, it is more important that one does one’s work for God. The first characteristic of our martyrs was this God-centeredness and sincerity. If a person does not rely on God, he will not be able to stand strong against the enemy.”

He referred to the second characteristic as not weakening, and referring to Hezbollah’s 33-day resistance against the Zionist regime, said, “This is while some Arab countries were unable to resist even for six days. Today, Hamas, without a government structure or official army, has been holding the enemy down for more than two years.”

The seminary scholar added that the third characteristic is not showing weakness and the fourth is not straining.

Referring to the Battle of Karbala, he said that despite receiving a letter of protection, Hazrat Abbas (AS) did not accept it, and Imam Hussein (AS) did not accept the offer to retreat on the way to Karbala. “In contrast, the countries that placed all their resources at the disposal of the enemy received nothing but humiliation.”

Safieddine, who replaced Sayed Hassan Nasrallah as the secretary general of the Lebanese Hezbollah resistance movement, was assassinated in an Israeli attack on the southern suburbs of Beirut on October 3, 2024.
